Bondamunda-Rourkela Line Block: Major Train Cancellations Announced
Indian Railways has announced a significant 12-day line block between the Bondamunda 'A' cabin and the Rourkela section to facilitate the commissioning of a new fifth railway line. This massive infrastructure project, managed by the South Eastern Railway (SER), will lead to major disruptions for passengers traveling through the region.
Massive Impact on Train Schedules
The block, which involves pre-Non-Interlocking and non-interlocking operations, is scheduled to continue through October 15, 2026. According to Aditya Choudhary, Senior Public Relations Officer and Commercial Manager of the Chakradharpur Railway Division, the work is essential for long-term capacity improvements, though it will inevitably affect travel plans.
A total of 44 MEMU, passenger, and express trains are expected to be impacted by these operational changes. Specifically, 11 major trains will face cancellations between October 4 and October 13.
