Bullet Train Project: Significant progress in Gujarat section, first service expected by 2027
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor is moving forward quickly. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared that the first high-speed rail service is expected to start on August 15, 2027. This project uses Japanese Shinkansen technology to connect major cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
What is the current progress of the Bullet Train project
The project spans a total of 508 kilometers. Out of this, viaduct work has been completed on 349 kilometers. In Gujarat, about 60% of the overall project work is finished. BEML is currently manufacturing the first bullet train coaches within India to support the project.
