Buxar Railway Update: New 11.8 km bypass line to provide direct connection to Varanasi and Ghazipur
The East Central Railway has accelerated the construction of an 11.8-kilometer bypass rail line near Dildarnagar along with the development of the new Karma station. This project is designed to streamline train operations between Buxar, Ghazipur, and Varanasi by removing technical hurdles. The Danapur division is overseeing the work with a target to complete all civil and electrical tasks by the year 2027.

The primary advantage of this new bypass is the elimination of engine reversals for trains traveling from Ghazipur toward Patna or Buxar. Currently, trains must change directions at Dildarnagar, which causes operational delays. Once the 11.8 km stretch is ready, trains can proceed directly, significantly reducing travel time for passengers heading to eastern India and Jharkhand. The project also creates new routes toward cities like Mau, Jaunpur, and Gorakhpur while offering an alternative to the congested Patna Junction.
