Railway authorities are actively working to restore access following unexpected structural issues on the newly built alternative route. The crossing was permanently closed by railways on May 30, 2026. The replacement Road Over Bridge was damaged on June 5, 2026, just days after its inauguration.
The closure of Level Crossing Gate No. 70 was originally planned as a permanent measure following the commissioning of the Road Over Bridge intended to replace it. However, public mobility was severely disrupted when the newly constructed ROB suffered damage on June 5, 2026, forcing authorities to shut it down for immediate repairs. This unexpected closure left residents with limited options for crossing the tracks safely and efficiently.
Addressing concerns regarding the structural integrity of the infrastructure, Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, clarified the situation.
The CPRO stated that the portion of the bridge directly above the railway tracks remains entirely secure and contains no technical defects. Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that the flank portion of the ROB, which developed issues, was constructed by the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited. With the Chairman of the Railway Board giving positive assurances and expediting the necessary procedures, local commuters can look forward to the resumption of normal traffic flow at the railway crossing very soon.
