Central Railway: Major October 2026 Train Diversions

Passengers planning their travel through the Central Railway zone should take note of upcoming schedule changes. The railway administration has announced a series of October 2026 train diversions, cancellations, and short-terminations to accommodate critical infrastructure development.
Kasara Third Line Expansion and Traffic Blocks
The operational adjustments are being implemented to facilitate the construction of a new third line between Asangaon and Kasara, alongside the expansion of the Kasara yard. This work is part of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), designed to improve long-term rail efficiency and safety.
A significant 12-day special traffic and power block has been scheduled from October 7 to October 18, 2026. During this period, the following impacts on rail services are expected:
- Approximately 46 trains will be short-terminated.
- Around 96 trains will be regulated.
- 20 trains will be rescheduled.
Major Diversions in Bhopal Division
Between October 14 and October 17, 2026, travelers passing through the Bhopal Railway Division will experience significant route changes. A total of 23 trains will be diverted during this four-day window.
For example, Train No. 12598 (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Gorakhpur) scheduled for October 14 will follow a diverted route via Kalyan-Karjat-Pune-Manmad instead of its standard path.
New Festival Special Trains for Durga Puja and Diwali
To manage the heavy passenger surge expected during the Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals, the North Eastern Railway and Central Railway are introducing daily special express services connecting Gorakhpur and Mumbai CSMT.
