Chakia Station Revamp: Construction Resumes After Quality Probe
Construction activities at the Chakia railway station have officially recommenced. The project had been temporarily suspended following a period of intense scrutiny regarding the quality of materials being used on-site.
Material Quality Concerns and Investigation
The project, a key part of the Gati Shakti Yojana, faced significant opposition on September 14, 2026. Local residents and members of the Railway Passenger Advisory Committee, including Mohan Bhargav, raised formal objections regarding the construction standards being implemented.
The primary allegations included:
- Failure to meet required technical specifications.
- Improper mixing of soil with sand within the building materials.
Upon receiving these reports, concerned citizens alerted departmental officials, including the Assistant Engineer (AEN), demanding a thorough investigation. To facilitate this departmental inquiry and ensure the structural integrity of the station, work was halted shortly after the complaints were lodged.
A Visionary Infrastructure Project
While the recent interruption caused concern, the development of Chakia station is part of a long-standing initiative. The roots of this project trace back to 2020, when the beautification and the provision of essential facilities for both Chakia and Mehsi railway stations were first launched. This initiative was originally driven by the former Union Agriculture Minister and Railway Standing Committee Chairman, Radhamohan Singh.
