Chandausi Overbridge: Construction Hits High Gear in Sambhal

The long-awaited railway overbridge at crossing 36B in Chandausi, Sambhal, is moving toward completion at an accelerated pace. Following recent administrative interventions, both the Railway Department and the Setu Nigam (Bridge Corporation) have intensified their efforts to finish the project, which promises to transform local commuting.
Administrative Push Drives Progress
The surge in construction activity follows a recent site inspection conducted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). During the visit, the SDM issued strict instructions to the Railway Department and the Setu Nigam to expedite the remaining work to avoid further delays.
As of October 11 and 12, 2026, the Railway Department has significantly ramped up its on-site operations. Technical teams are currently prioritizing several critical phases, including:
- Preparation of iron shuttering: A vital step required for the upcoming structural work.
- Casting girders: The preparation is underway to facilitate the launching of the casting girders.
Logistics and Service Road Development
In a parallel effort to ensure smooth movement, the Setu Nigam has commenced the construction of a service road. This road is specifically being built to lead toward the local Mandi area, ensuring that logistical requirements and commercial transport can continue effectively during the final stages of the project.
85% Complete: A Solution to Traffic Nightmares
According to project engineers and officials, the overbridge is now approximately 85% complete. The project is being monitored with high priority because it serves as the permanent solution to the chronic traffic congestion that plagues the region.
For years, commuters on the Chandausi–Bahjoi and Moradabad main roads have faced massive delays. These bottlenecks are frequently caused by train movements at the railway crossing, which halt all road traffic for extended periods. The completion of this overbridge will finally bypass these crossings, providing a seamless flow for vehicles and easing the daily struggle for local residents.
