The long-awaited railway overbridge at Chauri Chaura is finally nearing its finish line. After years of delays and intense local debate, the project at crossing number 147B in Bhopa Bazar, Sardarnagar, has reached its final stages of construction.
Major Progress at Sardarnagar
As of September 22, 2026, the project is entering its most critical phase, with final surfacing work currently in progress. The technical challenge of launching girders over the railway tracks has been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone for the local community.
This massive infrastructure undertaking, backed by an approved budget of approximately 59.44 crore rupees, has been a journey of patience. While the foundation stone was laid by CM Yogi Adityanath in December 2021, the original 2023 completion target was missed due to several complications:

- Strict requirements regarding construction standards.

The Battle Over the 'Y-Model' Design
A major point of tension remains the bridge's actual shape. While the project was initially sanctioned as a 'Y-model', local residents and traders have raised alarms that the design was later changed to an 'L-model'.
Local business figures, including Anoop Jaiswal and Rajesh Jaiswal, have been vocal in their demand for the original 'Y-model.' They argue that the Y-
