Heavy monsoon rains have caused significant damage to the railway infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. A railway track collapsed in the Balod district, leading to massive disruptions for commuters traveling through the Durg-Dalli Rajhara rail section.
Torrential Rains Trigger Infrastructure Damage
Following 36 hours of continuous, heavy downpour, the track between Latabod and Gundardehi, located near Iraguda, suffered a collapse. This incident has severely impacted operations within the South East Central Railway (SECR) Raipur Division.
List of Cancelled and Affected Trains
The track failure has forced the railway administration to cancel or divert several services. On September 26, 2026, the following changes were implemented:
- Train 78815 (Raipur-Antagarh): Cancelled.
- Train 68764 (Raipur-Tadoki): Cancelled.
- Train 68765 (Tadoki-Raipur): Cancelled.
- Train 78816 (Antagarh-Raipur): The service is cancelled specifically between Dalli Rajhara and Raipur.
- Train 78818 (Antagarh-Durg): This train will only operate starting from Dalli Rajhara, with the section between Antagarh and Dalli Rajhara remaining cancelled.
- Train 78817 (Durg-Dalli Rajhara DDM): This passenger service was detained at Gundardehi station for approximately three hours.
Emergency Repairs and Safety Measures
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Dayanand, accompanied by safety officers and other key officials, visited the site to assess the extent of the damage. The railway engineering teams have already begun urgent restoration work to fix the collapsed track.
To ensure passenger safety, the following measures have been taken:
- Caution Orders: Trains currently passing through the affected section are being operated under strict caution orders.
- Security: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been deployed to the site to manage security and order.
- Surveillance: Authorities are maintaining continuous monitoring of the track conditions in the area to prevent further
