Indian Railways extends Darbhanga New Delhi special train service until winter 2026

Indian Railways has announced the extension of the Darbhanga-New Delhi special train services to accommodate high passenger demand and clear long waiting lists during peak travel months. This decision by the East Central Railway and the Samastipur Division provides 88 additional trips for each service to ensure smoother journeys for travellers. Passengers can now plan their upcoming festive and winter travels with greater convenience. Here are the key highlights of the extended train services:

  • Train number 02569 from Darbhanga to New Delhi will run daily from September 4 to November 30, 2026.
  • Train number 02570 from New Delhi to Darbhanga will operate daily from September 5 to December 1, 2026.
  • No changes have been made to existing routes, stoppages, or departure timings.
  • Each train will operate with a composition of 18 coaches to maximize passenger capacity.

Train Composition and Schedule Details

The extended special trains are designed to provide comfortable accommodation for travellers heading between Bihar and the national capital. Each service will feature 18 well-maintained coaches comprising one generator-cum-luggage van, one LSLRD, four sleeper class coaches, five AC Economy class coaches, and seven AC Three-tier coaches. This diverse mix of classes ensures that passengers have multiple options depending on their budget and preference.

Railway officials have reiterated that the schedules and halts for these trains remain entirely unchanged, ensuring predictability for regular commuters and advance planners. Commuters are advised to double-check their booking details, train status, and specific operational schedules through the official National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by dialling the railway helpline at 139 before heading to the station.
