Dedicated Freight Corridor records 903 daily train interchanges

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited achieved a significant operational milestone on August 30, 2026, recording a total of 903 train interchanges with the Indian Railways network in a single day. This record-breaking performance highlights the increasing capacity and operational efficiency of the dedicated network in managing heavy freight traffic across the country. According to official data released by the corporation, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor accounted for 484 of these interchanges, while the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor contributed 419 interchanges. DFCCIL officials stated that these figures demonstrate the improved seamless connectivity between the dedicated corridors and the national railway system.

Transforming India Logistics Network

Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of DFCCIL, noted that the Dedicated Freight Corridors represent a transformative shift in the movement of goods across India. He further described the project as one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Railways since Independence, designed to provide a reliable and high-performance logistics backbone for domestic industries. By separating freight traffic from passenger routes, these corridors ensure faster transit times, higher reliability, and reduced congestion on the main Indian Railways network. The continuous growth in daily train interchanges reaffirms the vital role that these high-speed freight arteries play in supporting the nation economic development and modernizing freight transport operations.
