Indian Railways cancels and diverts 120 trains in Delhi Division for BRICS Summit 2026
Indian Railways has announced major adjustments to train operations within the Delhi Division to accommodate stringent security protocols for the upcoming BRICS Summit. Passengers planning to travel through the national capital region need to note that approximately 120 train services will be affected between September 11 and 13, 2026, following advisories issued by the Delhi Police. Northern Railway released the comprehensive travel modifications on September 10, 2026, impacting several local EMU services, premium long-distance trains, and daily express schedules. Passengers are advised to carefully review these schedule changes before heading to railway stations.
The service changes encompass a wide range of train cancellations, particularly affecting EMU commuter routes. Specifically cancelled EMU services include 64053 Palwal-Ghaziabad, 64439 Ghaziabad-Delhi Junction, 64071 Ballabhgarh-Shakur Basti, 64078 New Delhi-Palwal, 64411 Sahibabad-Delhi Junction, 64031 Ghaziabad-Shakur Basti, 64406 Delhi Junction-Ghaziabad, 64426 New Delhi-Ghaziabad, 64015 Palwal-Shakur Basti, 64429 Ghaziabad-New Delhi, 64433 Ghaziabad-New Delhi, 64492 New Delhi-Palwal Ladies EMU, and 64491 Delhi Junction-Shamli. Furthermore, EMU services 64445 and 64412 will remain cancelled specifically on September 12. Commuters relying on these local routes must make alternative travel arrangements during the summit period.
Diversions and Schedule Adjustments
In addition to local cancellations, long-distance services including prominent Rajdhani, Tejas, and Sampoorna Kranti express trains will be diverted to bypass congested security zones. Affected premier services include the 20840 New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani, 12424 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani, 12314 New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani, 12306 New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani, and 22812 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express.
Operational modifications have also led to deliberate rescheduling and short-terminations. The 12622 New Delhi-MGR Chennai Central Tamil Nadu SF Express is delayed by 50 minutes, the 4072 New Delhi-Supaul Special by 40 minutes, the 12382 New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express by 35 minutes, and the 14212 Agra Cantt Intercity Express by 20 minutes. Additionally, route curtailments apply as the 15307 Haryana Express will originate from Tilak Bridge instead of New Delhi, and the 64110 New Delhi-Aligarh EMU will originate from Ghaziabad.
