Delhi Guwahati Multi Track Corridor Will Pass Through Six Bihar Districts

This major infrastructure initiative forms part of a larger national strategy to expand seven high-density routes spanning approximately 11,000 kilometers into four-track networks. The primary goal is to alleviate severe congestion and significantly enhance operational capacity across heavily burdened railway arteries. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has emphasized that the expansion is critical for managing the high-density network where capacity utilization on some sections has reached 168%. Such high utilization rates make new multi-tracking essential for the smooth movement of both passenger and freight trains.

Currently, detailed project reports are being finalized for critical segments including Delhi-Gonda, Gonda-Gorakhpur, and New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati. Through these strategic efforts, Indian Railways is working tirelessly to increase both passenger and freight capacity across North Bihar and beyond ensuring a faster and more reliable journey for all travellers.
