With recent approvals and realignments, this line will stretch approximately 89 kilometers from Botanical Garden to Inderlok. This development marks a significant shift in the city’s transit map, as the Magenta Line will surpass the Pink Line in total length once the extensions are fully operational and open to the public.

How will the new route improve connectivity?
The expansion includes the integration of the Indraprastha – Inderlok corridor, which was originally planned as an extension of the Green Line. It has now been officially re-designated as part of the Magenta Line to ensure better passenger flow. The corridor will feature a total of 65 stations, and notably, 40 of these stations will be built underground. This massive setup is designed to decongest busy road routes and provide faster travel options across the National Capital Region.

This corridor will have the highest number of interchange points in the Delhi Metro system. There will be 21 interchange stations, allowing passengers to switch lines easily without long walks. Four major stations—Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok—will serve as triple interchange hubs. The entire line will operate on Unattended Train Operation (UTO) technology, making it a fully driverless system. The project targets completion by late 2028 or early 2029.
