Delhi-NCR Alert: Platform Ticket Sales Suspended at 6 Stations

To ensure passenger safety and manage the massive surge of travelers during the festive season, Northern Railway has implemented a temporary platform ticket suspension in Delhi and the surrounding NCR region. This measure is specifically designed to handle the heavy footfall expected during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations.
The restriction, which commenced on November 3, 2026, is scheduled to remain in effect until November 14, 2026. According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, the move is essential to control passenger surges and maintain order at major transit hubs.
Affected Stations and Sales Methods
The suspension applies to all methods of purchasing platform tickets, including physical ticket counters, mobile applications, and automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs). The following six stations are under this restriction:
- New Delhi Railway Station
- Old Delhi Railway Station (Delhi Junction)
- Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Anand Vihar Halt
- Ghaziabad Railway Station
Who Can Access the Platforms?
During this period, access to railway platforms will be strictly regulated. Primarily, only passengers holding confirmed train tickets will be permitted to enter the platforms.
However, Northern Railway has provided specific exemptions to assist those who need support. The following individuals are allowed access to assist passengers:
- Elderly travelers
- Sick or differently-abled passengers
- Illiterate passengers
- Women requiring assistance
Restrictions on Parcel Services
In addition to the platform ticket ban, the railway administration has also imposed temporary limitations on parcel-related activities to further reduce congestion at key terminals. These restrictions include parcel booking, loading, and unloading activities at:
- New Delhi
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Delhi Junction
- Hazrat Nizamuddin
