Delhi-NCR Alert: Platform Ticket Sales Suspended at 5 Major Stations
Indian Railways suspends platform ticket sales at New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and more from Nov 3 to Nov 14 to manage festive rush.

In a significant move to manage the massive passenger rush during the upcoming festive season, Indian Railways has announced a temporary Delhi NCR platform ticket suspension. For a period of 12 days, passengers will be unable to purchase platform tickets at several of the most heavily trafficked stations in the National Capital Region.
Stations Affected by the Suspension
The restriction will be implemented at five major railway hubs to ensure smoother operations and better crowd control. The affected stations include:
- New Delhi
- Hazrat Nizamuddin
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Old Delhi
- Ghaziabad
Duration of the Restriction
The suspension is scheduled to take effect from November 3 and will continue through November 14. This 12-day window coincides with the peak travel period for major festivals, including Diwali and Chhath Puja, when station congestion typically reaches its highest levels.
Strict Access Rules for Platforms
To maintain safety and order, access to station platforms will be strictly regulated. Only passengers holding valid reserved or general train tickets will be allowed to enter the platforms. Entry for non-passengers will be strictly prohibited during this period.
Exceptions for Passengers Requiring Assistance
Recognizing the needs of certain travelers, Indian Railways has outlined specific exceptions. One family member will be permitted to accompany the following individuals onto the platform:
- Elderly passengers
- Individuals who are ill
- Persons with disabilities
- Illiterate passengers
- Women traveling alone who require assistance
This measure is a standard procedure implemented annually by Indian Railways to manage the heavy influx of travelers during peak festive seasons, ensuring platform safety and order.
