Delhi-NCR to Bihar: The Great Ticket War for Diwali & Chhath 2026 Begins!
The festive season might still be months away, but for travelers in the Delhi-NCR region, the battle for train berths has already begun. As passengers prepare for the massive celebrations of Diwali (November 8, 2026) and the subsequent Chhath Puja (November 13-16, 2026), the scramble to secure seats to Bihar has reached a fever pitch.
The IRCTC Struggle: "High System Load" and "Regret" Status
With reservation windows opening approximately 60 days in advance, the digital rush has been intense. Many passengers attempting to book seats at the 8:00 AM daily opening have reported encountering frustrating errors on the IRCTC website, including "High System Load" or the dreaded "Regret" status, indicating that the capacity has already been exhausted.

- AC Classes: Booking opens at 10:00 AM, one day before departure.

Massive Deployment of Special Trains
In response to the overwhelming demand, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed that Indian Railways will operate over 12,000 special trains to accommodate the festive surge. The scale of this operation is massive:

- New Delhi–Darbhanga Special (04098/04097): This dedicated daily service will run from October 10 to November 25 for outbound travel, and from October 11 to November 26 for return trips. The train will stop at Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur.
- Trains on Demand (TOD): The North Central Railway (NCR) has scheduled 1,053 "Trains on Demand" trips to operate between October 1 and November 30, 2026, including services from New Delhi.
- East Central Railway Specials: A total of 16 festival special trains, including weekly and bi-weekly services, have been confirmed.
