Delhi Railway Parcel Services: No Ban, Operations Normal
Indian Railways clarifies that parcel services at Delhi stations like New Delhi and Anand Vihar are fully operational, debunking rumors of a ban.

Recent rumors suggesting a ban on parcel bookings at major railway stations in Delhi have been officially debunked by Indian Railways. The administration has clarified that there are currently no restrictions on parcel loading or booking services across the national capital's key railway hubs, ensuring that Delhi parcel services continue to operate without interruption.
Debunking the Parcel Ban Rumors
The confusion appears to stem from outdated reports regarding temporary high-security measures. These measures were specifically implemented between August 12 and August 15, 2026, to ensure safety during the Independence Day period. While those temporary restrictions were in place for security reasons, they do not reflect the current operational status of the railway's parcel division.
Key Stations Fully Operational
Business owners and commuters can continue to utilize parcel services at all major transit points in Delhi. The following stations remain fully functional for all parcel-related traffic:
- New Delhi Railway Station
- Delhi Junction
- Hazrat Nizamuddin
- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Delhi Sarai Rohilla
New 'Ghar se Ghar Tak' Digital Service
Instead of scaling back, the railway administration is focusing on modernizing its logistics capabilities. A significant upcoming development is the launch of the 'Rail Parcel App - Ghar se Ghar Tak'. This new digital initiative aims to provide seamless door-to-door parcel pickup and delivery services. The service will roll out in eight major cities, including Delhi, making it easier for users to manage shipments without visiting the station.
Important Note on Diwali Holiday Closures
While parcel services remain unaffected, passengers should be aware of potential changes regarding ticket bookings. Due to the Diwali holiday on November 8, 2026, Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters across various locations in the Delhi-NCR region may face partial or full closures. It is important to note that this adjustment applies strictly to ticket reservation counters and has no impact on general parcel operations or logistics.
