Delhi Train Cancellations: Major Disruptions Due to CJP Protest

Major disruptions are expected for travelers heading to the national capital as Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of several mail and express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi (NDLS) and Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM) railway stations on October 10, 2026.

The decision, confirmed by an order from the Railway Coaching Directorate, has been taken to manage anticipated traffic congestion and security risks resulting from a large-scale protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Why are the trains being cancelled?

The CJP has called for a massive demonstration at Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In anticipation of the gathering, the Delhi Police has denied permission for the protest and has requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to close 57 metro stations to prevent overcrowding and maintain order.

Security has already been significantly tightened at various entry points into Delhi. There have also been reports of CJP activists being deboarded from trains, including a recent incident involving the Goa Express at Itarsi.

Which trains are affected and when?

The cancellation specifically targets trains that departed from their originating stations after 2:00 PM on October 9 and were scheduled to reach Delhi between 4:00 AM and 2:00 PM on October 10. While the disruptions are focused on arrivals at Delhi stations, the impact extends to services originating from Jhansi and other parts of the country.

Some of the key services confirmed to be affected include:

  • Patna Tejas Rajdhani
  • Sampoorna Kranti Express
  • Magadh Express
  • Amrit Bharat Express

Passengers are strongly advised to verify their train status through official railway channels before heading to the station. Regarding ticket refunds, the following rules apply:

  • Online Tickets: Refunds for passengers who booked via official online platforms will be processed automatically.
