Delhi Train Services Restore: 30 Trains Still Cancelled

Following significant disruptions in the Delhi region caused by protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Northern Railway has announced the restoration of 214 passenger train services. While the situation is stabilizing, travelers should note that 30 trains remain cancelled and three others face partial cancellations as of October 11.
Widespread Disruptions Across Northern India
The protests, which demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, led to major chaos across several railway zones. On October 9, the North Western Railway was forced to cancel 13 services connecting Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.
The disruption intensified on October 10, with multiple mail and express trains arriving at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations being cancelled or rescheduled during the early morning and afternoon hours. Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay confirmed that services are being brought back online as traffic normalizes.
Supreme Court Intervention and Security Updates
Amidst the unrest, where over 7,000 demonstrators were detained, the Supreme Court stepped in on October 11. The court issued five specific directives to authorities to ensure that essential services, including metro and rail operations, continue to function normally, subject to lawful public order restrictions.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that metro operations are running normally and internet connectivity has been restored. While CJP leaders have been released from detention, they have vowed to continue their protests on a nationwide scale. Delhi Police had previously implemented traffic diversions at 30 major points after denying the CJP permission to protest at Jantar Mantar.
