Deoria Kasaya railway overbridge construction gains momentum

Construction work for a new Road Over Bridge at Kasaya Railway Dhala in Deoria is progressing steadily after two of the seventeen proposed pillars successfully completed their foundation work as of September 9 2026. This vital infrastructure project aims to resolve heavy traffic jams at the crossing, which is a major transit route for the Deoria railway goods shed. Commuters and local residents can look forward to smoother travel once the bridge is fully operational.

The project has a total financial commitment of 72 crore 3 lakh and 28 thousand rupees following administrative and financial approval from the Uttar Pradesh government in February 2026. Funding is a collaborative effort with the Railway contributing 35 crore 85 lakh and 54 thousand rupees and the Uttar Pradesh Setu Nigam providing 36 crore 17 lakh and 74 thousand rupees. The bridge will measure 613.89 meters in total length including a 95.50-meter span falling directly within railway jurisdiction.

Construction Timeline and Dispute Resolution

After the Railway granted formal design approval on July 18 2026 active preparations kicked off in August. Temporary resistance from local traders and lawyers between August 11 and August 12 2026 was successfully resolved through District Administration mediation. Work resumed on August 21 2026 starting with a service lane to keep traffic moving smoothly.

Deputy Project Manager for the Setu Nigam Vijendra Singh confirmed that work strictly follows the government master plan. District Magistrate Divya Mittal gave administrative consent in January 2026 while Sadar MLA Dr Shalabh Mani Tripathi championed the project to the Chief Minister. Officials expect construction speed to increase significantly in the coming months.
