New Deoria Railway Overbridge: DPR Work Begins!
Authorities have begun the DPR process for a new railway overbridge in Deoria to improve connectivity on the Gorakhpur-Salempur road.

Authorities have officially kicked off the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a brand-new railway overbridge in Deoria. This upcoming infrastructure project is designed to enhance connectivity along the Gorakhpur-Salempur four-lane road.
Project Planning and Scope
The proposed overbridge is intended to span the area from the Kanshiram Residential Colony complex to the vicinity of the Telecommunications Department office. To ensure the project is technically sound, a private firm has been contracted to conduct a comprehensive evaluation. This study will cover several critical parameters before the proposal is submitted for formal government approval, including:
- Technical design and engineering specifications
- Land assessment and identification
- Final cost estimation
Separate Progress at Kasya Dhala
It is important to note that this new initiative is entirely independent of the ongoing construction at Railway Crossing No. 129, which is locally known as Kasya Dhala. While the new overbridge is currently in the planning and reporting stage, the Kasya Dhala project is already in the active construction phase.
Status of the Kasya Dhala Overbridge
The Kasya Dhala overbridge, which spans 613.89 meters, is currently focusing on piling work and the development of service lanes. This massive undertaking has an approved budget of approximately ₹72.03 crore. The funding for this project is shared between two major entities:
- Indian Railways: ₹35.85 crore
- Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation: ₹36.17 crore
The development of the Kasya Dhala site has navigated several challenges, including technical design objections, the necessity of shifting high-voltage utility lines, and protests from local residents and traders. However, work at the site is now progressing steadily following these earlier interruptions.
