Bihar to Nepal New Railway Line Approved. Single Ticket For 256 KM Long New Route.

New Delhi/Patna, Special Correspondent: In a significant move, the central government has approved a new railway line connecting Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Goddess Sita, with Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. This project will involve laying a 256-kilometer rail line between these two major religious sites.

On Thursday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the doubling of the existing Narkatiaganj-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga and Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur rail sections. The total cost of this project is estimated to be ₹4,553 crore.

Key Project Details:

  • The 256-kilometer rail line will improve connectivity between Sitamarhi and Ayodhya, making travel between these spiritual destinations much easier.
  • The project will also involve the doubling of rail lines at several key locations like Narkatiaganj, Raxaul, Betia, Sugauli, Bapudham Motihari, Sitamarhi, and Muzaffarpur.
  • An additional 57-kilometer new rail line has also been approved, with a combined investment of ₹6,798 crore for new projects.

  • Improved Connectivity: The project will enhance connections between Nepal, Northeast India, and border areas.
  • Rail Access to Religious Sites: The new rail line will provide direct rail connectivity between Ayodhya and Sitamarhi, benefiting devotees and tourists.
  • Regional Accessibility: It will also facilitate easier access to Nepalese locations such as Kathmandu, Janakpur, and Lumbini.

 

This strategic project will significantly enhance transport infrastructure in the region and promote religious tourism between India and Nepal.
