Devendra Nagar to Churhat: New Daily MEMU Service Approved

The Railway Board has officially sanctioned the launch of a new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service, providing a massive boost to regional connectivity. Operating under train numbers 61629 and 61630, the new service will run between Devendra Nagar and Churhat, marking a significant expansion of the rail network.
A Historic Link for Panna and Sidhi Districts
This new service is set to become a lifeline for the region, as it represents the first passenger train service to reach the Panna and Sidhi districts. By bridging these areas, the railway is opening up new avenues for travel and commerce that were previously limited to road transport.
The 166-kilometer corridor is designed to facilitate easy movement through key hubs such as Satna and Rewa. The service is scheduled to operate daily, though it will not run on Sundays.
Successful Technical Trials Completed
The approval follows highly successful trial runs conducted on October 17 and October 18, 2026. These trials spanned the Rewa-Churhat and Satna-Devendra Nagar sections, allowing technical teams to rigorously test the infrastructure. During these runs, officials evaluated:
- Track capacity and stability
- Signaling system efficiency
- Speed balance across the new corridor
Regular operations are slated to commence on October 21, 2026, pending the finalization of the official timetable by railway authorities.
