Massive Nationwide Festive Train Deployment

This initiative by SECR is part of a much larger nationwide effort by Indian Railways to manage the heavy festive demand. Between October 1 and November 30, 2026, a total of 8,454 special train trips have been announced across the country.

Indian Railways is operating approximately 3.4 lakh regular train trips during this period, which is an increase of over 16,000 trips compared to the previous year.

High-demand routes have been prioritized to prevent overcrowding. Specifically, 2,057 trips have been allocated for Bihar, 1,056 for Uttar Pradesh, and 975 for Delhi. With approximately 9.25 lakh seats made available through these special services, officials noted that about 85% of bookings have already been confirmed.

To manage the crowds effectively, authorities have set up holding areas at major railway hubs, including Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Pune, and Nagpur. Additionally, Northern Railway is providing extra support with unreserved special services, such as the Hazrat Nizamuddin-Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi special express and a Ghaziabad-Aligarh EMU, running between November 5 and 8.
