The project will cover six important railway sections of the East Coast Railway. These include Baghuapal-Budhpank, Haridaspur-Paradip, Khurda Road-Bolangir, Naupada-Gunupur, Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh, and Bobbili-Salur. This expansion is part of a larger plan to use LTE-based communication for better train safety.

What is the Kavach system and how does it work?

Kavach is an Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system developed by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO). It monitors the speed and location of trains and automatically applies brakes if a driver passes a danger signal or exceeds the speed limit. About 90% of its components are manufactured in India under the Make in India initiative.
