To manage the massive passenger surge during the upcoming festive season, Eastern Railway has announced the operation of 102 Eastern Railway Puja Special Trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja. These special services are scheduled to run from November 6 to November 14, 2026, ensuring that millions of migrants can return to their homes in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal safely and conveniently.
Connecting Major Hubs and Religious Centers
The special train services will originate from several major railway hubs to facilitate easy boarding. Key originating stations include:
- Howrah
- Sealdah
- Kolkata

These trains are designed to connect travelers to vital commercial and religious destinations across the country, including Delhi, Anand Vihar, Patna, Gorakhpur, Raxaul, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, New Jalpaiguri, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Haridwar, Ahmedabad, Agra, and Visakhapatnam.
High-Demand Routes and Frequency

- Patna to Katihar: Scheduled to operate 5 special trips.
- Ahmedabad to Surat: 4 special trips will be provided to assist workers traveling from western India.
Relief for Last-Minute Travelers

- Patna
- Darbhanga
- Ballia
- Gorakhpur
This comprehensive initiative aims to reduce the immense pressure on regular train services and provide much-needed relief to travelers during the peak festive period.
