East Central Railway cancels and diverts 845 trains for Rajendra Pul bridge work

Train passengers travelling across Bihar and neighbouring regions need to plan their journeys carefully as major rail traffic disruptions are scheduled from September 19, 2026, to October 5, 2026. The East Central Railway has announced widespread service changes impacting a total of 845 train services across the Danapur and Sonpur divisions to facilitate crucial infrastructure development. Passengers are advised to note key details of these disruptions before heading to railway stations. 338 to 383 train services stand completely cancelled during this period. 383 to 384 trains will operate via diverted routes to bypass the construction zone. 56 to 67 trains have been scheduled for short-termination or short-origination. The disruption is necessary to connect the new double-line rail bridge parallel to the existing Rajendra Pul in Mokama.

The massive engineering block is necessitated by critical pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking infrastructure development works. These works aim to seamlessly connect the newly built double-line rail bridge running parallel to the historic Rajendra Pul in Mokama with the existing rail network. According to East Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra, this project is a vital step toward long-term capacity augmentation, aiming to ease severe bottlenecks and accommodate higher traffic density in the region in the future.

These crucial sites include Rajendra Pul, Upper Hathidah Junction, Tall Junction, Rampur Dumra, Dinkar Gram Simaria, and Barauni Junction. Because hundreds of trains are either cancelled, diverted, or short-terminated, daily commuters and long-distance travellers will face considerable inconvenience. Railway authorities have issued a formal advisory urging all passengers to verify the updated status of their specific trains before commencing their journey.
