Faridabad Railway Station faces 45-day disruptions for redevelopment

Train passengers travelling through northern India should prepare for major schedule changes as Northern Railway has announced significant disruptions to train services at Faridabad Railway Station spanning from September 1 to October 15, 2026. This 45-day service adjustment is necessary to facilitate critical redevelopment work under the prestigious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, confirmed that a power and traffic block will be implemented on platforms 2 and 3, affecting line numbers 4 and 5. The ambitious station upgrade project carries an approved cost of Rs 262 crore and a strict 30-month completion timeline, designed to modernize the travel hub with two iconic station buildings and modern multi-level parking facilities. Travellers must carefully review their journeys as several cancellations, diversions, and halts skipping have been officially lined up by railway authorities.

Key Service Impacts and Operational Changes

During this 45-day redevelopment period, a total of nine train services have been cancelled, including Train No. 64908 Shakurbasti–Ballabgarh and seven other local services. Furthermore, Train No. 64076 New Delhi–Palwal is cancelled specifically on September 1 and October 15. In addition to cancellations, another 20 trains will bypass the station entirely, skipping their scheduled halts. Some of the major affected long-distance services facing skipped halts include the Malwa Express, Grand Trunk Express, Ujjaini Express, Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express, Kerala SF Express, and the Nanded–Firozpur Cantt Express.

To keep passenger movement flowing safely, operational adjustments include the reallocation of 43 trains—17 Up and 26 Down—from platforms 2 and 3 to platforms 4 and 1. Moreover, Train No. 19019 Bandra Terminus–Haridwar Jn will face a 45-minute regulation between Palwal and Faridabad New Town for journeys originating on August 31 and October 14. Commuters should note that preliminary adjustments and skipped stoppages for certain trains will begin as early as August 30 or 31, with operational tweaks continuing until October 13 or 14. Railway authorities strongly advise all passengers to cross-check their current train statuses and verify their travel plans against the updated operational schedules before heading to the station.
