Faridabad station redevelopment leads to local train cancellations till October
Ongoing redevelopment work at the Faridabad railway station has led to significant disruptions for passengers traveling on the Palwal-Delhi route. Northern Railway has announced that eight major EMU and local trains operating between Palwal, Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Shakurbasti will remain cancelled from September 1 through October 15, 2026. According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer for Northern Railway, a power and traffic block has been imposed on Platforms 2 and 3 to expedite construction. The project is being executed by Deepak Builders and Engineers India Ltd. as part of a Rs 240-crore station redevelopment initiative under the Delhi Division.
Train Cancellations and Schedule Changes
Specific trains cancelled for the 45-day duration include 64908 Shakurbasti–Ballabgarh, 64071 Ballabgarh–Shakurbasti, 64052 Ghaziabad–Palwal, 64015 Palwal–Shakurbasti, 64078 New Delhi–Palwal, 64057 Palwal–Ghaziabad, 64012 Shakurbasti–Palwal, and 64013 Palwal–Shakurbasti. Additionally, train 64076 New Delhi–Palwal is cancelled specifically on September 1 and October 15, 2026.
The service impact extends beyond cancellations; approximately 20 long-distance trains, including the Grand Trunk Express (12615) and Kerala Superfast Express (12625), will skip scheduled stops at Faridabad between August 30 and October 14. Furthermore, 43 trains have been reassigned to different platforms, with 17 shifting from Platform 3 to Platform 4, and 26 moving from Platform 2 to Platform 1. Train 19019 Bandra Terminus–Haridwar Jn will face a 45-minute regulation delay between Palwal and Faridabad New Town for journeys commencing on August 31 and October 14.
Construction Timings and Passenger Assistance
Construction blocks are scheduled daily from 12:05 AM to 2:35 AM on September 1 and October 15, and from 12:05 AM to 3:05 AM between September 2 and October 14. Passengers are advised to verify train status via the RailMadad helpline at 139, the Indian Railways enquiry service, or the NTES app.
