Faridabad Station Resumes Full EMU and Express Services

Passengers traveling through Faridabad can breathe a sigh of relief as the station has officially resumed full EMU and express train operations. This comes after the conclusion of a massive 45-day redevelopment block that significantly impacted rail movement in the region.

End of the 45-Day Construction Block

The construction block, which commenced on September 1, 2026, officially concluded on October 15, 2026. During this intense redevelopment period, the station faced significant operational hurdles. To facilitate the essential work, nine trains were cancelled, and several major long-distance services, including the Malwa Express and the Grand Trunk Express, were bypassed.

The redevelopment also necessitated complex platform management to keep traffic moving. A total of 43 trains underwent platform changes during the block:

  • 17 trains were diverted from Platform 3 to Platform 4.
  • 26 trains were moved from Platform 2 to Platform 1.

New MEMU Services and Operational Realities

Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, confirmed the restoration of services. As part of the resumption, nine EMU trains have been restarted, and a brand-new MEMU service between Faridabad and Delhi was introduced on October 15, 2026.

However, travelers should be aware that the station's operational capacity remains somewhat constrained. While services are back, additional train stops remain suspended as conditions continue to improve at the station.

Ongoing Improvements and Passenger Advisory

Although the main construction block has ended, work at the station is still very much active. Construction continues on Platforms 2 and 3, which contributes to the current operational limitations. Additionally, amenity upgrades are being finalized, such as the installation of a new tin shed on Platform 1, which was observed as late as October 17, 2026.

Passengers are advised to remain patient, as some service delays were reported as recently as October 18, 2026, due to the ongoing transition and station improvements.
