Festive Alert: New Special Trains & Major Route Diversions for Gorakhpur, Bhopal & More!
Indian Railways is implementing significant changes to its schedule to manage the upcoming festive rush and accommodate essential infrastructure upgrades. While several new special trains are being introduced to assist pilgrims, passengers on certain routes will face diversions and station skips due to ongoing signaling work.
Major Route Diversions: Gorakhpur-Gonda Section
Due to non-interlocking work for automatic signaling on the Gorakhpur-Gonda section, 14 trains passing through this area will be diverted between September 24 and September 27, 2026.
- Train No. 07075 (Hyderabad-Gorakhpur): On September 25, 2026, this train will be rerouted via Gonda, Barhni, and Gorakhpur.
- Train No. 15707 (Katihar-Amritsar Express): Also on September 25, 2026, this service will be diverted via Chhapra, Aunrihar, Banaras, and Barabanki.
Important Station Skips for Katihar-Amritsar Express
Because of the diversion mentioned above, Train No. 15707 will not make its scheduled stops at the following stations:
Ekma, Siwan, Mairwa, Deoria Sadar, Gorakhpur, Khalilabad, Basti, Mankapur, Gonda, and Colonelganj.
Bhopal and Howrah Service Adjustments
The railway administration has also announced a change in the halting pattern for the Howrah-Bhopal Express (Train Nos. 13025/13026). The temporary halt at Barkakana is being shifted to Ranchi Road station.
- Howrah to Bhopal service: This change takes effect from October 19, 2026.
- Bhopal to Howrah service: This change takes effect from October 15, 2026.
New Special Trains for Pilgrims and Festivals
To address the high demand during religious periods and festivals, Indian Railways is increasing the frequency of several special services.
Delhi to Ashoknagar Special
Train No. 04004/04003 will operate between Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Ashoknagar, with departures scheduled for September 17 and September 21, 2026.
