Festive Special: New Trains Between Dr. Ambedkar Nagar & Rewa via Jabalpur!
Indian Railways is gearing up to manage the massive passenger surge expected during the 2026 festive season. To ensure smooth travel during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath celebrations, Western Railway and West Central Railway have announced the operation of two weekly special trains connecting Dr. Ambedkar Nagar and Rewa. This initiative is part of a massive nationwide plan to run over 100 special trains, totaling 1,053 trips, between October 1 and November 30, 2026.

These special services are specifically timed to assist commuters during the peak holiday periods. Here are the operational details for the new services:
- Train No. 01709 (Dr. Ambedkar Nagar to Rewa): This train will run every Sunday from October 11 to November 15, 2026. It is scheduled to depart Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at 9:20 PM and arrive in Rewa at 2:30 PM the following day.
- Train No. 01710 (Rewa to Dr. Ambedkar Nagar): The return service will operate every Saturday from October 10 to November 14, 2026. It will depart Rewa at 10:50 PM and reach Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at 3:05 PM the next day.
A total of 12 special services will be provided, with six trips scheduled in each direction.
Route Change and Major Halts
In a significant departure from previous services on this route that traveled via Bina, these new special trains will operate via Jabalpur. This change provides a different transit path for passengers traveling between these two locations. The trains will stop at several key stations, including:
- Satna, Maihar, Katni, and Jabalpur
- Narsinghpur, Gadarwara, Pipariya, and Itarsi
- Narmadapuram, Rani Kamalapati, Sehore, Shujalpur, Maksi, Dewas, and Indore
To provide a high-quality travel experience, the services will utilize modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) rakes. Passengers can choose from various coach compositions, including Third AC, Third AC Economy, Sleeper, and General class.
Important Alert: Regular Train Diversions
While these special trains offer new options, passengers using existing services should be aware of upcoming maintenance. Due to essential yard remodeling work at Bina and Agasod stations scheduled from September 1 to October 15, 2026, the regular Tri-Weekly Express services (Train No. 11703 and 11704) between Rewa and Dr. Ambedkar Nagar will run on diverted routes on specific dates throughout October.
