Sri Ganganagar-Delhi Trains Hit by Major Rake Delay

Commuters traveling between Sri Ganganagar and Delhi are facing significant scheduling hurdles. A delay in the link rake has disrupted the regular operations of several key train services, causing uncertainty for passengers on this vital route.

Major Express Services Impacted

The disruption has specifically affected four primary train services that connect these two cities. Travelers are advised to check the current status of the following trains before heading to the station:

  • SGNR DLI Express (14029)
  • Intercity Express (12482)
  • SGNR TKJ Express (14727)
  • BKN DEE SF Express (12456)

While the Intercity Express remains the fastest option—covering the approximately 425-kilometer distance in about 7 hours and 25 minutes—other services on this route can take as long as 14 hours to complete the journey.

A Series of Regional Operational Challenges

This rake delay is not an isolated incident, as the region has been grappling with multiple railway interruptions throughout October 2026. Recent operational issues include:

  • Service Cancellations: On October 5, partial cancellations were reported for services running between Sri Ganganagar, Delhi, and Meerut Cantt.
  • Station Congestion: On October 9, nine trains connecting Rajasthan to Delhi were cancelled due to anticipated congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations.
  • Track Maintenance: Work on the Bathinda-Sri Ganganagar section, which began on October 18, has resulted in the cancellation of the 54753 Bathinda-Sri Ganganagar train through October 29.
  • Infrastructure Upgrades: Doubling work on the Luni-Samdari-Bhildi rail section on October 25 affected 27 trains, including several services connecting to Delhi.

Railway authorities are currently working to manage the impact of the link rake delays alongside these ongoing regional infrastructure and maintenance projects.
