Ghaziabad-Aligarh Diwali Special MEMU Train Announced

To accommodate the massive surge in passenger traffic during the 2026 festive season, Northern Railway has approved the operation of a Ghaziabad Aligarh Diwali Special MEMU train. This new service is designed to ease the heavy rush of commuters and travelers heading home for the holidays.

New MEMU Service and Station Stops

The approved festival special MEMU service will operate under train numbers 04414 and 04413. To ensure maximum connectivity for local passengers, the train is scheduled to stop at 15 different stations along the route. Key stops include:

Extension of New Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU

In addition to the new MEMU service, Northern Railway has implemented an extension of the existing New Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU (64426). This service will now run all the way to Aligarh Junction, with the return service (64429) departing from Aligarh. This extension is scheduled to run from November 5 to November 14, 2026, providing 10 trips in each direction and serving 16 stations, including Maripat and Dadri.

A Massive Scale-Up for Diwali 2026

The introduction of these trains is part of a much larger festive initiative. Northern Railway has significantly increased its capacity compared to the previous year. While 4,666 special trips were operated last year, the railway has planned over 6,200 special train trips for the 2026 season.

To further support travelers heading toward Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, 42 new trains have been regularized, contributing approximately 2,600 trips. Furthermore, the Moradabad Division will enhance passenger comfort by attaching extra AC coaches to 10 special trains between November 1 and November 17, 2026.

Enhanced Security and Passenger Management

To ensure a smooth travel experience during the peak holiday period, the railway is implementing several administrative measures:

  • Increased Staffing: Additional personnel are being deployed across key stations.
  • Ticketing: Extra ticket counters are being opened to reduce waiting times.
  • Security: Enhanced security measures are being rolled out to manage crowds.
  • Monitoring: A dedicated 'war room' has been established to monitor critical stations such as Ambala Cantt, Chandigarh, Saharanpur, Bathinda, and Sirhind.

Northern Railway CPRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay confirmed that comprehensive arrangements are being implemented to ensure that the festive travel experience remains seamless for all passengers.
