Passengers at Ghaziabad Railway Station are facing difficulties due to the slow progress of the redevelopment work. Despite starting three years ago, less than 30% of the project is complete. Why is the redevelopment work delayed?
The construction agency director, Sushil Kumar, stated that delays in payment from the railways have slowed down the work. Ground reports from May 2026 show that almost no progress happened in the last 6-7 months and workers were not seen on site. While platform widening was completed on January 15, 2026, the main station building work is still pending.

Most of the work has been limited to staff quarters and the outer boundary. Old buildings and supporting structures have been demolished, and over 190 trees were cut for the project. Railway officials mentioned that carrying out large-scale construction without disturbing train operations on the Delhi-Howrah trunk line is a major challenge.
