Gorakhpur-Jodhpur Special Train: Festive Travel Boost for Gurugram & Rajasthan!
Indian Railways is gearing up to manage the massive surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season. To ensure smoother journeys for travelers celebrating Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, the authorities have announced a new weekly special train service connecting Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Festive Special: Gorakhpur to Jodhpur Weekly Service
The newly announced special train service, operating under numbers 04829/30, will provide a vital link between Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. This service is scheduled to complete nine trips between October 2nd and November 27th, 2026.
For commuters in the Gurugram region, the train timings are as follows:
- Gorakhpur to Jodhpur route: Arrival at Gurugram Railway Station at 3:28 AM.
- Jodhpur to Gorakhpur route: Arrival at Gurugram Railway Station at 3:00 PM.
The service will also serve as a critical transit link through Rewari Junction and Delhi Cantt, making it a convenient option for those traveling through the NCR region.
High-Speed Connectivity: The Delhi-Alwar Namo Bharat RRTS
Beyond festive special trains, a massive leap in regional infrastructure is underway with the Delhi-Alwar Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS). This 164-km corridor is designed to operate at impressive speeds of 160 kmph, which is expected to drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and Alwar to approximately 117 minutes.
The project, which received approval from the Haryana government on May 18, 2026, carries an estimated cost of ₹37,000 crore. To further enhance this network, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has proposed a 36-km extension to Behror in Rajasthan. This extension received clearance from the Public Investment Board (PIB) on July 30, 2026, and is estimated to cost ₹8,000 crore. Once completed, the total project valuation will reach nearly ₹43,000 crore, with a target completion date of November 2031.
Gurugram Station: A Modern Transformation
The Gurugram Railway Station is also set for a major upgrade under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Following the foundation stone laying ceremony by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 26, 2024, a ₹300 crore modernization project is in progress. This includes the construction of a massive nine-story building, which is slated to be ready for passengers by 2027.
Additional Railway Updates and New Routes
The Railway Board has also approved several other significant services to bolster national connectivity:
- Kanpur to Delhi: A new daily train service will operate between Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar Terminal.
- Long-Distance Amrit Bharat: A tri-weekly Amrit Bharat Express will run between Bhuj and Barauni. This massive route will span 2532 kilometers, traversing through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
