The Indian government has officially approved a long-awaited railway project to connect Mahua to the Indian Railways network, boosting connectivity in North Bihar. With government approval secured, the next major step for the administration is the preparation of a comprehensive Detailed Project Report. As part of the upgrade plans,
five brand new stations will be established at Mahua Jalalpur, Mukundpur, Sultanpur Haq, Harihar, and Tajpur. Furthermore, existing stations at Bhagwanpur and Karpurigram will undergo significant modernization, with a long-term goal of developing Bhagwanpur into a major railway junction. 52 projects related to new lines, gauge conversions, and track doubling across Bihar as of April 1, 2025.
