New 4-Lane ROB to Link Garhi Crossing to Dwarka Expressway
GMDA and Indian Railways to build a ₹100 crore four-lane rail overbridge at Garhi to connect residents to the Dwarka Expressway.

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Indian Railways have entered into a strategic partnership to transform local commuting through the construction of a massive four-lane rail overbridge (ROB). Located at the Garhi railway crossing near Sector 37D, this project aims to eliminate the long-standing traffic congestion caused by the existing level crossing.
From Two Lanes to Four: An Upgraded Vision
What began as a modest proposal for a two-lane structure with an estimated cost of ₹55 crore has evolved into a much larger infrastructure project. Recognizing the rapidly increasing traffic demands in the region, GMDA officials, led by CEO PC Meena, directed a design revision. The project has now been expanded into a four-lane flyover, with the updated cost estimate reaching approximately ₹100 crore.
To ensure the project's successful execution, the two agencies have agreed to a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement, splitting the financial responsibility equally between GMDA and Indian Railways.
Connecting Thousands to the Dwarka Expressway
The construction of this ROB is set to be a game-changer for the local population. It will provide seamless connectivity for more than 10,000 families residing in Sectors 37C and 37D, as well as the residents of Basai and Garhi villages. By serving as a vital link to the Dwarka Expressway, the bridge will drastically reduce travel time for commuters traveling between the Old City and the expressway.
Project Status and Future Outlook
As of 2026, the project has officially moved into the technical feasibility study phase and the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR). This initiative is part of a broader infrastructure push in Gurugram, following the state government's allocation of ₹302 crore for five major grade separators, which includes the Garhi ROB project.
