Gurugram Sector-37D: New 4-Lane Railway Overbridge Coming Soon

The construction of the railway overbridge at the Garhi crossing in Sector-37D, Gurugram, is moving forward at a rapid pace. In a major move to address increasing traffic, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has upgraded the project from a two-lane design to a much larger four-lane flyover.
Project Upgrade and Funding Details
Originally planned as a ₹55 crore two-lane structure, the scope of the project has been significantly expanded to accommodate the heavy traffic flow from the Dwarka Expressway. The revised four-lane flyover is now estimated to cost approximately ₹100 crore.
To facilitate this development, the Ministry of Railways and the GMDA have agreed to a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement. This ensures that the infrastructure is robust enough to handle the long-term growth of the region.
Connecting Old Gurugram and Dwarka Expressway
The new overbridge is designed to act as a vital link between Old Gurugram and the new residential developments along the Dwarka Expressway. This infrastructure will directly benefit over 10,000 families residing in various sectors and townships, including:
- Sectors 37C and 37D
- Basai village
- BPTP Township
- Imperial Esfera and ILD Greens
- Apex Our Homes and Signature Global projects
Additionally, the flyover will provide much smoother access to schools and hospitals located within Sectors 37C, 37D, 9B, and Basai.
Addressing Long-Standing Commuter Issues
The Garhi crossing has historically been a source of frustration for local commuters due to several recurring problems:
- Manual gate management causing significant delays
- Frequent waterlogging during the rainy season
- Poor road conditions leading to heavy congestion
The project's momentum is supported by the Haryana government's March 2026 budget, which allocated ₹302 crore for five grade separators in the city, including this crucial crossing. Following recent project revisions, a consultant has been commissioned to finalize the detailed project report (DPR) to meet the new four-lane specifications.
