Gwalior Railway Station: All platforms to be covered with sheds under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Indian Railways is upgrading the Gwalior Railway Station to provide better facilities to passengers. To protect travelers from the intense summer heat, the railway administration decided to cover all platforms with sheds. This work is being carried out as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to ensure that passengers do not face hardships while waiting for their trains.

The redevelopment of the station focuses on modernizing the entire infrastructure. A large concourse is being built where 2,500 passengers can sit at once. To make movement easier for the public, the station will feature 19 lifts and 23 escalators. The project also aims to reflect the local cultural heritage of the Gwalior-Chambal region.
Project cost and completion timeline
The total cost of the redevelopment project is 534.70 crore rupees. While the previous deadline was December 2024, the target for completion has now been shifted to April 2026. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently inspected the site and reviewed the progress with officials to ensure the station provides a 22nd-century experience.
