Hardoi Rail Crossing Closure: Lucknow Mail Cancelled
Commuters in Hardoi are facing significant travel disruptions as railway authorities have announced an 11-day closure of a key level crossing for essential track maintenance. This shutdown, combined with train cancellations due to protests, is set to impact both road and rail travelers in the region.
Major Shutdown at Purwa Crossing
The Purwa railway crossing (Level Crossing 261-C), situated between the Balamau and Baghauli stations on the Hardoi-Lucknow route, is currently closed to all road traffic. The closure commenced on Sunday at 10:00 AM and is scheduled to remain in effect until Wednesday, October 21, at 6:00 PM.
Senior Section Engineer Pawan Sharma confirmed that the shutdown is necessary to facilitate urgent track repairs and the replacement of sleepers. To avoid delays, commuters are advised to utilize the Pahadpur crossing (Level Crossing 262-C) as an alternative route, where traffic remains operational.
Korriya Crossing Maintenance Alert
In addition to the Purwa closure, the Korriya railway crossing (Level Crossing 281-C) is also scheduled for maintenance. This closure will take place on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, to allow for ongoing sleeper replacement work.
Senior Section Engineer (Rail Path) Pankaj Sharma noted that motorists during this period must divert their travel via the Sitapur Road overbridge and the Kakwahi gate.
Lucknow Mail Services Cancelled
Adding to the travel complications, rail operations between Lucknow and New Delhi have been disrupted due to protest activities organized by CJP in Delhi on October 10, 2026. Consequently, the following train services have been cancelled:
- Train number 12229 (Lucknow-New Delhi): Departing on October 9.
- Train number 12230 (New Delhi-Lucknow): Scheduled for October 10.
