Harnaut railway overbridge construction crosses seventy percent completion milestone in Bihar

Construction work on a vital railway overbridge in Bihar has crossed a major milestone bringing relief closer for local commuters. The new infrastructure aims to resolve long-standing traffic issues by linking two key national highways across the railway tracks.
Over 70 percent of the total project work, including the main structure and its approach roads, is now complete.
The project connects National Highway 31 with National Highway 30A to alleviate persistent traffic congestion in Nalanda district.
Land acquisition processes are actively underway by the Nalanda district administration to finalize bypass connectivity.
The project was initially tendered by Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited with an estimated value of Rs 51.79 crore.
Project Overview and Location
The new railway overbridge is coming up at Level Crossing number 10C, located strategically near the Harnaut Rail Factory situated between the Wena and Harnaut railway stations in the Nalanda district of Bihar. This location has historically witnessed heavy traffic delays due to the closing gates at the level crossing, affecting daily commuters and long-distance freight movement alike.
Traffic Relief and Highway Connectivity
Once fully operational, the bridge will seamlessly connect National Highway 31 (NH-31) with the alignment of National Highway 30A (NH-30A). This direct linkage is specifically designed to eliminate bottlenecks and ease persistent traffic congestion in the region, ensuring smoother transit for passenger vehicles and commercial transport.
Administrative Progress and Land Acquisition
Project documentation maintained by the Nalanda district administration confirms that administrative oversight remains strong. Authorities have been issuing relevant site requirements and notifications regarding land acquisition since July 2023. Officials are actively working through the remaining land acquisition procedures to facilitate the final connection of the bypass and bridge infrastructure, ensuring the project moves steadily toward completion under the supervision of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited.
