Hazrat Nizamuddin Station: New Bridge to Beat Traffic Jams
Hazrat Nizamuddin Station closes Platform 8 entry to tackle congestion. Use the new pedestrian bridge via Namo Bharat station for easier access.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi has introduced a major change to its entry and exit protocols to tackle the perennial problem of traffic congestion. In a move to streamline passenger movement, authorities have permanently closed the previous entry and exit point located at Platform Number 8.
The New Access Route via Namo Bharat Station
Passengers arriving at or departing from the station are now required to use a newly constructed pedestrian footbridge. This bridge provides a direct connection to the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail station, serving as the primary corridor for both entering and exiting the railway premises.
While the new route may require a slightly longer walk compared to the old ground-level access, it offers a significant advantage: it completely bypasses the heavy traffic jams that frequently clog the area near the station entrance.
Why the Change Was Necessary
The decision to close the ground-level access at Platform 8 was driven by severe traffic congestion. For many commuters, these bottlenecks resulted in extreme stress and, in many cases, caused passengers to miss their train departures due to vehicles blocking the station's immediate surroundings.
Instructions for Commuters
To ensure a smooth journey, passengers are advised to follow these directions:
- Metro Users: If you are arriving via the Delhi Metro, proceed directly toward the Namo Bharat station.
- Using the Bridge: Utilize the designated overbridge to reach the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station platforms.
Although the transition initially received mixed reactions, the implementation is intended to eliminate the reliance on congested road access and provide a more predictable, efficient experience for all travelers using the station.
