Howrah Barmer Express links West Bengal and Rajasthan across 2266 kilometers
The Howrah Barmer Express serves as a vital superfast rail link operated by the Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways connecting passengers between West Bengal and Rajasthan. This important long distance service bridges eastern and western India while offering comfortable travel options for thousands of daily commuters and interstate travellers.
The Howrah Barmer Express traverses a distance of approximately 2,266 kilometers and stops at 26 designated stations across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
Currently, the train operates twice a week with train number 12323 departing Howrah on Tuesdays and Fridays, and train number 12324 departing Barmer on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
This bi-weekly schedule was formalized in January 2022 by the North Western Railway zone.
Coach Composition and Amenities
The train is equipped with modern LHB coaches to ensure passenger safety and comfort during the long journey. Passengers can choose from multiple travel classes including AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and unreserved compartments. Additionally, an onboard pantry car is available to serve meals and refreshments to travellers throughout the trip.
Timings and Journey Duration
The 12323 Howrah Barmer Express departs from Howrah Junction at 18:50 and arrives in Barmer at 06:30 on the third day, completing the journey in approximately 35 hours and 40 minutes at an average speed of 63.53 kmph.
New Stoppage Announced
Railway authorities have confirmed that starting from January 1, 2026, both the 12323 and 12324 services will include an additional stoppage at Mahendragarh railway station. This welcome change comes after continuous advocacy efforts by local bodies like the Daily Rail Passengers Association, aimed at improving regional connectivity for residents in the area.
