Indian Railways plans to launch 200 Vande Bharat sleeper trains

Indian Railways is expanding its premium long-distance travel network by actively developing 200 Vande Bharat sleeper trains under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The announcement was made by Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar during his visit to Indore, marking a major milestone in the modernization of passenger amenities across the rail network.

Key details of the upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper project include:
- 200 advanced train sets are being developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
- Each train set requires approximately one to one-and-a-half years to complete.
- The entire new fleet is expected to be fully operational within roughly two years.
- Madhya Pradesh is anticipated to be among the regions receiving this new sleeper service.

Current Rollout and Production Timeline

This ambitious initiative comes on the heels of the successful launch of India's very first Vande Bharat sleeper express, which currently runs on the important route between Howrah and Kamakhya. Building on this momentum, four additional Vande Bharat sleeper trains have already been completed and will soon be formally inaugurated for public service.

Furthermore, the national transporter anticipates the delivery of 11 more Vande Bharat sleeper units within the current calendar year. With production ramping up swiftly, passengers across the country can look forward to world-class overnight train journeys featuring modern interiors, enhanced safety features, and superior riding comfort in the near future.
