Indian Railways adds festival train stops at Deoria Sadar and Siwan stations

Indian Railways has announced the inclusion of Deoria Sadar and Siwan stations as scheduled stops for two festival special trains, aiming to enhance connectivity for passengers in Gorakhpur and surrounding regions during the upcoming festive season. This decision, confirmed on September 18, 2026, is set to provide significant relief to travelers commuting between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The New Jalpaiguri-Gomti Nagar Weekly Special (05741/05742) is among the services receiving these expanded stoppages. Train 05741 departs from Gomti Nagar and proceeds through Ayodhya Dham and Basti to reach Gorakhpur. From Gorakhpur, the train is scheduled to depart at 9:15 PM, continuing through Deoria, Siwan, Chhapra, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur, before terminating at New Jalpaiguri. In the return direction, train 05742 departs New Jalpaiguri at 8:30 AM, traversing through Siliguri, Purnia, Katihar, Khagaria, Muzaffarpur, and Chhapra to reach Gorakhpur, from where it departs for Gomti Nagar at 2:20 AM the following day. Services for this route are scheduled to commence on October 4.

Additionally, a Lucknow-Vaishno Devi Special Superfast train has been granted scheduled stops at Deoria Sadar and Siwan. This service will feature a 22-coach configuration. The route includes stops at Barabanki, Ayodhya Dham, Mankapur, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria Sadar, Siwan, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur, among other stations, facilitating easier travel for pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi. These special operations are managed by Indian Railways to handle increased passenger traffic during the holiday period.
