Indian Railways to use AI for waiting list ticket confirmation prediction from August 2026
Indian Railways is upgrading its 40-year-old Passenger Reservation System (PRS) to make ticket booking easier. The railway ministry is introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to help passengers know if their waiting tickets will get confirmed. This new system will start rolling out in phases from August 2026.

The new AI model analyzes previous booking data, cancellation patterns, and route demand to predict seat availability. While the old system had a prediction accuracy of about 53%, the new AI-based model provides predictions with 94% accuracy. Passengers will see the probability of their ticket getting confirmed right at the time of booking.
