What is the Bio-Vacuum Hybrid System?
The new system combines vacuum flush technology with bio-digester tanks developed by DRDO. Unlike normal toilets, this system uses suction to pull waste, which prevents foul smells from entering the coach. It also stops waste from falling on the tracks, making the railway environment cleaner.

The project will be implemented in trains operating from the Prayagraj and Kanpur coaching depots. The North Central Railway expects to complete this installation within 36 months. Bids for this e-tender are being accepted until July 20, 2026.
