Indian Railways will upgrade Amrit Bharat 3.0 Express with premium AC coaches
Indian Railways is set to introduce a major upgrade to its popular economical service by incorporating premium air-conditioned coaches into the upcoming Amrit Bharat 3.0 Express fleet. This evolution brings AC First, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier accommodations to a train series previously known exclusively for its non-AC model. Designed for greater efficiency, these upgraded trains will utilize push-pull technology to reach speeds of up to 130 kmph while enhancing acceleration and deceleration. The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai is currently manufacturing 14 rakes for this project following a prototype inspection by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The updated coaches feature coordinated color schemes, durable PVC flooring, upgraded rexine berths, redesigned snack tables, and convenient foldable bottle holders to ensure an enhanced travel experience.
Passenger Amenities and Hygiene
Travelers can expect significantly improved passenger amenities, including mobile holders, USB A and C-type charging ports, improved LED lighting, and fans equipped with sleek stainless steel grills. Modern toilets now feature automatic soap dispensers and indication lights to maintain higher standards of cleanliness and hygiene during long journeys.
Safety and Trial Status
Safety remains a top priority with coaches built to meet HL3 fire safety standards, complemented by CCTV cameras, an electro-pneumatic assisted brake system, and an emergency talk-back facility. Semi-automatic couplers ensure a jerk-free travel experience, while air spring suspension bogies and fully sealed gangways add to passenger comfort. Before entering active service, the Research Designs and Standards Organisation will conduct rigorous safety tests and trials, with the prototype rakes expected to roll out within the current financial year.
